Hi Everyone 

Welcome to our April Newsletter. Both venues are going from strength to strength with both Boughton and Dover in the Fifties. Our March freestyle had 81 dancers and produced some lovely complimentary feedback. So a big thank you to all of you who have supported us and many thanks to those of you who dressed up, it certainly was “mad as a March hare” The Pilgrims Hospice Raffle raised £83.00 with the star prize being a voucher for Dance shoes provided by RoTate (WWW.rotateuk.com)

Venues

Boughton:- Open as usual on Mondays including all the bank Holidays. Don’t forget that your welcome to bring your own drinks along to this venue on class nights. Soft drinks available at the venue.

Dover:- Open as normal Thursday with a full bar available. 

Freestyle (Spring Ball)

This month is on April 28^th at Boughton. DJ Disy, full bar and with our icebreaker fun class at 8.10 pm for about 20 minutes. Just £8.00 to get in.

As with all our freestyles, wear what you like and feel comfortable in. However we would like you to “Dress to Impress” in spring colours.

Long Term Plans

Dance the Blues at Boughton Friday June 1st

Dance Dedication & Dance the Blues have teamed up to bring you a fantastic evening of blues dancing in East Kent. Many of the dancers based in the East Kent area find the journey to Dartford for the fabulous monthly Blues nights just too far, so Dance Dedication have joined up with Michael Townsend of Dance the Blues to bring you the same great atmosphere as Dartford but in a venue closer to home.

Forties Freestyle (September 1^st Walpole Bay Hotel)

A brand new venue for Dance Dedication and what a venue it is.

This lovely Hotel is so full of character I’m sure you will become as enchanted as I am by the sheer diversity of the items within the Hotel. The Ballroom floor is a genuine 1920's sprung maple floor that is in beautiful condition. 

This event is tickets only and unfortunately due to the high cost of the venue the tickets are priced at £10.00 per person with a strict limit of 80 dancers. (the hall is licensed for many more but to avoid "sardine" dancing I have restricted the numbers).

The New Dancer Offer

Bring someone along who has never danced Modern Jive or its variations and they will be offered a special offer card which entitles them a total of 4 free class evenings at our venues, could be 4 at Boughton or maybe 2 at Dover and 2 at Boughton their choice, the only restriction is that the card expires 4 weeks after the issue date.

We all know what great fun Modern Jive is and a 4 week trial gives enough time to get over the nerves and settle down to some great evenings.

To show our gratitude to you for bringing along the new dancer we would like to offer you free entry when you introduce a friend.

Don’t know anyone who’s not jived before? Well bring someone who hasn’t been to Dance Dedication before and you both come in for FREE, just let the doorperson know that your introducing a new guest. If they come back the following week you both come in for half price

Our February freestyle had 85 dancers and produced some lovely complimentary feedback. So a big thank you to all of you who have supported us over the long cold winter and now that the evenings are starting to get just a little lighter (only two weeks until the clocks spring forward) we look forward to welcoming you all.

Venues

As with all our freestyles wear what you like and feel comfortable in. I may well be dressing up again (Alice in wonderland theme…….. No I’m not doing the queen of hearts! again).

Long Term Plans

August bank Holiday. (August 27^th).

As always we will be having our freestyle and Summer bar-b-q, but due to a high level of demand from our members we will be offering a workshop day starting at 10:30 with a range of workshops covering the topics that our regular dancers want covered. All of the teachers are confirmed and the running order for the day is being finalised before the leaflet design goes to the printers. Look out for it at the venues and on our website.

Not A Dance Weekend

Many of you came to our “not a dance weekender” on the Isle of White in January and following your feedback I am arranging a two night break over the weekend of October 5^th to the 7^th. In a SouthCoast hotel, as soon as the contract is finalised I will post the details on our facebook group and website. Just keep those dates clear if you fancy an affordable break with lots of other dancers and friends.

Hi Everyone

Welcome back to another new year, All that Christmas thingie now seems to be a mile away behind us but the good news is that every day is a little lighter for longer. Both Venues are back to normal with good numbers at both Boughton and Dover.

New members drive. (8 new members at Boughton and 4 at Dover in the first 2 weeks)

Any club survives by attracting new members and at Dance Dedication we are no different. I want to try and boost the numbers at both venues but maintain our friendly atmosphere.

For the whole of January anyone who has not been to any modern jive classes can come to any of our venues for free so That means Free every Monday at Boughton and Free every Thursday at Dover. If you introduce someone then you will have free admission from the time you introduce them until the end of January every time they come along.

All of our existing dancers who pay to enter will receive not one but two loyalty stamps for the whole of January, so half the time until your free evening.

2012 Charity

The crew have decided that although all the Charities proposed were worthy of our support the majority voted for The Pilgrims Hospice in Canterbury as our main charity. I will be organising one freestyle for Macmillan at Dover as this was a commitment that I made last Year. Thanks to everyone who supported us last year in our charity based efforts.

“Baby It’s Cold Outside Freestyle”

January 21^st. (this Saturday) is our first freestyle of 2012. As normal, Boughton Village Hall, Bull Lane Boughton, ME13 9AH. Doors open 7.45 and dancing from 8.00 to 11.30 with music from DJ Disy. Full bar and lots of free parking.

Freestyle Postcards

Each of our freestyles over the coming year will have a limited edition postcard to promote it. I hope you find these fun and to encourage our guests to collect them we will be having a special surprise for everyone who has collected all 11 by the end of the year. Look out for our first one which is an Antarctic scene with penguins on.

Murphy Shirts (Samples now in stock at the venues)

Dance dedication is pleased to announce that we are now promoters for Murphy shirts. These great breathable shirts for men now come in four great colours in a polo neck and granddad neck style. These shirts retail at £22.50 including post and packing. If you place your order through Dance Dedication we will donate our promoters discount to The Pilgrims Hospice. So not only will you get to see the goods at one of our Venues but you will also be helping a great charity. Not a Dance Holiday

Thanks to those of you who have registered an interest in the not a dance holiday, I’m still working on this more info in a special bulletin.  

Not A Dance Weekender

34 of us descended on Warner Bainbridge Hotel on the I.O.W. over the weekend of 13-16 January. What a great week end. Dancing every night after the cabaret, free bar every day, fantastic food , great facilities & Friends. Pictures on facebook. The overwhelming response seems to be that our people loved it. Look out for more details for 2013 later in the year.

Seasons Greetings Everyone

Venue Change for Dover in December 15^th only

For the final week of the year we are once again at the Kings Hall, I have asked that the floor be polished so hopefully that should overcome the stickiness, but I will bring the magic powder just in case.

Boughton Reopens Monday 9^th January

Dover reopens Thursday 12^th January at Club Dover

American Suppers at both venues.

I will be bringing some cheap plonk to Boughton and a few mince pies to both venues, so if you fancy making a few cakes or snacks we will have a bit of a party. Just to get us in the festive mood we will have another “off the wall” fun class (so wear well padded clothing, no not really).

If any of you can help by placing our fliers at your workplaces or other non dance clubs you attend please ask the door staff for some leaflets. (please obtain permission from your employer, etc.) We also have A3 fliers if your able to display one of these.

Next Years Charity

Nominations for our charity for next year are being sought. Should we stick with Macmillian or maybe go with the Pilgrims Hospice or maybe you have a charity that you would like us to support. Please email me and let me know your thoughts on this. (The free alcohol for exhausted dancers is not a registered charity!)

Raffle

We raised £196 .00 on the Christmas raffle. Thanks for your very generous support.

Thursday 29^th We were going to have a Tea Dance on this date but Keith and Fran of Jazzles are having a freestyle evening at the Kings Hall in Herne Bay, starts at 8.00, I will be going and I know quite a few of the DD crew will be there as well. I’d love to see you all there.

Shoes

Lots of interest in our Rotate dance shoes promotion, with the leaflets flying out the door. Please remember that every pair of shoes contributes to our raffle prize fund to the tune of £5.00. Just let them know that dance dedication are your agent and you’ll receive a free shoe bag, can’t be bad.

Julz danceshoes also make very generous donations to our prize funds so please take the time to look at their on site catalogue (available in the venues and on line) or pay them a visit when they come to Boughton twice a year. (next date to be announced in January)
